Growing up under the influence of his father, himself an established Electrical Engineer in Cebu City, the achiever shared that he was no stranger to the legend that was, I believe still is, and will continue to be, Mapúa University’s Flagship Electrical Engineering Program.

After careful reflection and family discussions, he chose to pursue his degree at Mapúa, citing his desire to study at an institution of great repute—one that produces nationally renowned Electrical Engineers and would push him beyond his limits.

His academic journey was not without hardship. He admitted that there were times where I was full of disappointment and self-doubt to the point where I would tell my quiz coach to remove me from the team if I just wasn’t good enough. Yet, through the encouragement of family, friends, and mentors, he found renewed strength and confidence.

He described his three years at Mapúa as transformative:

quote More than the foundation for my practice, I learned life-long skills. I carried the lessons of perseverance, determination, and focus into my review, very determined to top the Board Exams and bring honor to the university, my family, my own name, and to my God.

Having successfully passed and ranked second nationwide, he now looks forward to professional practice. “I am no longer a student. I’ve passed and aced the most important test and am now energized and commissioned for field use and practice,” he said, while emphasizing that “the learning never stops.” In his message to fellow Mapúan alumni and current students, he encouraged continuous growth and resilience:

quote To my fellow alumni, I look forward to learning from you, to grow in my knowledge, to expand my horizons, and contribute to our network. To the EE students, your time will come, persevere, be determined, and stay focused. Love your program and don’t let the pressures of being a student destroy the curious learner in you. Enjoy being a learner and enjoy the process.”

— Engr. Joshua Enrick B. Salvador

This achievement not only reflects his personal dedication but also strengthens Mapúa University’s long-standing reputation as a powerhouse in engineering education, a place where legends are truly made.
